A traditional rear-extension proposal exploring a generous kitchen and dining space for a brick family home. Ashfield House combines a slate pitched roof, warm brickwork and painted French doors, with a direct connection to a stone terrace and established garden.

The project in detail.
A natural addition to the house
The design takes its lead from the brickwork, slate roof and window proportions of the main house. A simple garden-facing gable gives the new kitchen and dining space a clear form, while stone-coloured lintels and restrained brick detailing connect the addition to the character of the building behind it.
Everyday living facing the garden
French doors and glazed sidelights bring the terrace into view from the dining space. A separate side window offers another source of light, while solid wall areas provide scope for kitchen storage and furniture. The terrace extends the family living space into the garden.
Developing the proposal
A measured survey and internal layout study would establish the connection to the existing rooms. Roof junctions, upper-floor windows, structural openings and drainage would be coordinated as the design develops, together with the relationship to neighbouring homes and the appropriate approval route.
